The Loooong Awaited Day!

Hollace's first "real" day of kindergarten was today. I say "real" because they do a weird "phase-in" thing around here. The first day for everyone else in the county was over 2 weeks ago. (We have "all year school" here. Really just a longer school year with longer breaks during the year). So everyone has been going now for a while except the kindergartners. They each go one half day a week for 2 weeks before they start going everyday. This was a LOOOOONG 2 weeks for Hollace. She was SO ready and excited. She has been asking me everyday, "how many more days until I go to school every day- all day?"

For the "phase-in" days I got to walk her to her class and she only stayed about 3 hours. Today was the first day I had to just drop her off at the door and the first day she stayed ALL day, so this was the first "real" day to us.

Honestly, I didn't think I would be very sad about the big day, because she is SO excited and seems so ready and independent. BUT, it was a little sad dropping her off today, knowing that from now on during the school year she will be gone ALL day! I think I'm going to miss my girl!

(These pictures are not good at all. I'm not sure why they look a little fuzzy/grainy.)

Rhett is going to pre-school 2 days a week and today was his first day too.

I can't believe Hollace has started school! It is a little sad. You were always excited about going to school, too. How did Rhett do at school? Was he also excited?
Miss you guys!

They look so cute with their little lunch boxes and back packs. As a mom it's always hard to handle these little milestones. I wish they didn't have to grow up so quick!!

Hollace looks beautiful and I am glad she is excited about school. Little Rhett looks handsome and ready to give his teacher trouble- just kidding. :) What are you and Thad going to do with all that time alone?

Aren't they just too cute!! Hollace looks so grown up. She's going to have a great time, learn important socilization skills, and make a lot of friends. The first day of school is a wonderful time for little ones, they get that little taste of freedom.

I think I might want to be a kindergarten teacher in Tennessee. :) Nah, probably not. The kids are growing up so fast and it's exciting. Hey, you have some quiet mornings, don't you?
