Hollace had a sweet Mother's Day Tea at school for all the moms. They read poems, sang songs, served us pretty little petit fours and punch, and presented us with some art they had made. It was a very sweet day and she was so proud.

Easter 2011
I'm finally getting around to posting about our Easter.
Saturday before Easter Sunday we had a little picnic/ Easter egg hunt with our Sunday School class at the park. I didn't take many pictures, but I did take a few of Thad that were funny. He found a few eggs, then sat down and ate each piece without moving from this spot. All the other kids had finished hunting then went up to the table under the pavilion. So he was a ways out there all by himself for quite a while. He didn't seem to notice he was all alone. I finally got his attention and a smile.
Saturday evening we colored eggs and made Resurrection rolls, which you can see in the background.

If you've never made the rolls, you take a marshmallow which represents Jesus and dip it in melted butter and cinnamon and sugar. This represents putting the oil, etc. on the bodies like they use to before putting them in the tombs. You roll the marshmallow up in a crescent roll, which represents the tomb. When you bake them, the marshmallow melts and sort of disappears, so the crescent is hollow or empty. Of course this represents the empty tomb that was left after Jesus rose from the dead. A good teaching opportunity about the meaning of Easter....................one would think.
Instead this turned into a big joking session about Jesus being a marshmallow. They thought that was so funny and went on and on about it. "AHHH...we're dipping Jesus in butter.......OH NO, Jesus is melted and squishing out the side!". Not exactly the "moment" I had envisioned!
They tasted good anyway. Here is Thad enjoying his.

My kids have never been overly excited about the egg coloring process. We always do it, but it's never a big deal.

It's Official............
I'm A SOCCER MOM
Here is Rhett's Upward soccer team. They are called the "Little Flash". Aren't they cute? The only other boy on his team is almost 6 and has played soccer for three years. He is by FAR the team's best player!
