Fall Ball Season Wraps Up: T-ball Edition

The Fall sports season is winding down over the next couple of weeks and I have three kids playing three sports to catch up on. We decided to keep it to one sport per season for each of them (not counting swimming for Hollace). With AWANA at church and swimming we have something almost every evening- and they are in pre-school and elementary!! There is just so much available for them to do, it's sort of overwhelming trying to decide. They just can't do it all. Each sport is offered each season.  Soccer....they play it indoor in the winter, and lacrosse-who knew 8 year olds could play lacrosse.  Tennis, karate, gymnastics, basketball, cheerleading........... How are they suppose to know what they want to do without trying them all, but they just can't.....and still have time for anything else. It's a little stressful being a kid in 2012- or the mom of a kid in 2012.

Anyway........

Thad played t-ball for the second season this fall.  To describe it in one word, I'd say it has been unpredictable. You just never know what you're gonna get with him.  Some games he sits and pouts and won't play at all. He refuses to bat or play the field and just whines about wanting to go home the whole time. Other days he plays and does his best and has a great time. We just never know. It's pretty cute to watch them at this age. They are so clueless.

I think these pictures were from one of the first games of the season- in September I think.

This last weekend he had a make-up game on Friday evening then his last game was on Saturday morning. He was actually in a "playing" mood for both games. He loved batting and chased after every ball that was hit, no matter if it was near him or not. So cute! He was SOOO excited to get his trophy at the end of the game.

and a final shot with his team. GO YANKEES!!!

We love our Sooners!!

Despite a pretty sad loss this last weekend, we still love our Sooners! Brent and I went to OU/TX at the Cotton Bowl a few weeks ago. It has been a long time since we were able to go so we were excited.

We got a babysitter and left early Saturday morning. We drove to Plano and rode the train into Dallas. It was much better than fighting traffic and searching for a place to park.

It was a good game because we won, but we can't really say it was a good game in a nail-biting sort of way.
This is how the crowd looked by the start of the 4th quarter

and the Oklahoma side:

It was a fun day and we were glad to be able to go again.

This last Sunday was game day at church. The kids wore jerseys for their favorite team. There were a few other Sooner fans but not many. After church they had a little "carnival" set up with inflatables, rock wall climbing, food, and even karaoke.

Here are our little Sooners:

Pretty and Pierced!

Hollace got to get her ears pierced for her 9th birthday.

We went to Claire's right after church on her actual birthday. She was SOOO excited.

There were plenty of things in Claire's to keep the boys entertained while Daddy took pictures.

She got so nervous once they started getting things ready and it was almost time.

Here's the actual moment(s). There was only one trained "ear piercer" there that day so they had to do each side one at a time.

She looked a little unsure about the whole thing even after it was over, but said it was definitely worth it!

First Slumber Party!!

We decided to let Hollace have her first Slumber Party this year for her birthday. She invited 9 girl and I assumed there would be at least 2 or 3 that wouldn't be able to make it.  Well, every girl she invited was able to come so we ended up with TEN girls (and a couple of ornery brothers)!

They had such a good time! I knew they would be wound up and loud, but OH MY GOODNESS!!

Here she is opening her presents.
She loved her cake so much last year, she decided on one very similar to it in different colors and zebra stripes instead of polka dots.
Happy Birthday dear  Hollace........Happy Birhday toooooo YOUUUUU!!!

After presents and cake we did a couple of craft projects.
The flower headbands turned out really cute.
After hours of playing, crafting, squealing, movie watching, laughing, dressing up, giggling, eating, and
squealing some more, they finally fell asleep around 2am.

We had her party on Saturday night because Brent was out of town Friday and it was really the weekend that worked best.  The alarms to get up for church seemed to come so early!

It was fun and she was very grateful we let her have her first Slumber Party. I'm just glad we don't have to do that again for another year:)

Happy 9th Birthday to Our GIrl!!

9 years ago today God gave us this AMAZING girl who made us parents for the first time! We are so PROUD of what a sweet, smart, funny, kind, responsible, loving, AMAZING girl she is.

She actually had her party last weekend. (I"ll post pictures soon) We waited for today on her actual birthday to give her gifts from the family.

We let her open one before church.  It was earrings!  She has been asking to get her ears pierced for a long time and we had told her she would probably have to be 10. So I think she was surprised when she opened them and we told her we were taking her after church to get them pierced. (I'll post pictures of that soon too!)

After church she got to choose where we ate lunch and she chose Panera Bread. Then we went to Claire's to get her ears pierced, then home to open the rest of her gifts.

Her brothers got her these pink Legos she has been asking for.

The grandparents went in with us and got her an Ipod touch which she thinks she has been "dying" to get.

Do you think she was a little excited???

This picture cracks me up. I guess her excitement was contagious!

She even did a "Happy Dance" for the grandparents who were watching by Skype.

We got a cookie from the bakery at Panera Bread to put a candle in since we had her cake last weekend.

Here is our 9 year old with her birthday tree.

Happy Birthday sweet Hollace!! We LOVE you SOOOOOO much!
