Visit to The OKC Memorial

Earlier this summer, the week we went to the zoo, we also went to the OKC Memorial. I had never been before. If you've never been, you must go. I won't even try to put it into words, as it really does leave you speechless. We didn't go into the museum. We didn't figure we'd be able to take our time and really see and read everything with the kids. So we'll have to go back. Here are a few pictures we took. Really, if you've never been, you need to go.

FIrst Day of School Update

Well, Hollace survived her first day of school. 1 day down and only 14 years left to go! It sounds like her day was pretty uneventful. Just to record a little about the day, she said:

Her favorite part of the day was: "the dollhouse and playing outside."
Her favorite new friend was: "I only met one new friend, but I forgot her name."
One thing she learned today was: "I learned it was August."
For milk break she had: "Chocolate milk and icing cookies"
One thing she hopes she learns this year is: "Unicorns on the rainbows" (I doubt that's on the curriculum for this year.)

Off to School

Today was Hollace's first day of school. She is starting Pre-K with the public schools. She was very excited about going, but not sure about going every day. Last year in Pre-school she just went 3 days a week. We went to "Meet your teacher" last night, so this morning they just wanted you to drop your kids off and not come in with them or anything. That was kind of hard, but it didn't bother little Ms. Independent. I'll update later after I see how the day went for her.

Here is the pic of Hollace and Rhett together. As you can see he doesn't stay still very long.

Here she is in front of the school, getting ready to get out.

So grown up!

My Birthday Boys

This last weekend was a busy one around our house. On Sunday Rhett turned 2!! We had a family birthday party for him, Brent, who turned the "BIG 3-0" (on Monday), and my Dad, who turned....well he had a birthday too (on Sunday). I meant to take a picture of the three guys together and didn't get it done. Maybe next year.

Here is my sweet boy. I can't believe he is 2.

He was acting so silly and shy while we sang Happy Birthday to him. He is usually not shy at all.

Here is his "Cars" cake I made. I started the tradition of making the kids' cakes with Hollace's first birthday. I am not sure it is worth the effort. It is quite time consuming.

Here is the Birthday Boy blowing out his candles. He got a little help from sister.
He also got a little help opening his gifts.
On Monday Brent and I went out to eat then I surprised him (well that was the intention) by having some people over for cake and ice-cream.
Thanks to everyone who came and helped out! (I still say the door was unlocked, guys!)
Here is his YUMMMYY! cake. I did not make this one. A friend's sister makes them and they are wonderful!
**On a side note Monday was also our 7th anniversary. (Yes, we got married on Brent's birthday.) We are going to visit my sister in Broken Arrow this weekend and are going to go out to a nice restaurant in Tulsa while we are there to celebrate.

Tagged!

I've been tagged by Sally. This tag game is a little different. You have your child or children answer the following questions.

Here are Hollace's answers:

What does Mommy always say to you? "Get to your room." (We're not off to a great start.)

What makes Mommy happy? "When I kiss you and hug you and mind you"

What makes Mommy sad? "When I don't mind you"

How does Mommy make you laugh? "Silly jokes" ( I never tell jokes)

How old is Mommy? "84" (Sometimes I feel like it)

How tall is Mommy? "43 feet long"

What doesn't Mommy like to do? "Work"

What is Mommy's job? "You're a nurse and take care of people"

What is Mommy's favorite food? "Chicken and green beans and cheese enchiladas" (No)

How do you know that Mommy loves you? "Because you hug me and kiss me everytime"

I tag anyone who reads this that hasn't been tagged.
