For Spring Break we decided to take a quick trip to OKC. We planned on a Thunder game, Bricktown, the and a few other fun things for the kiddos.
Thad got a nasty stomach bug a couple days before we were suppose to leave. We debated canceling, or Brent taking the kids and Thad and I staying home. We decided to delay leaving a day, and pray he would be feeling better. The morning of the game he was still pretty puney, but we decided to take the chance and go ahead and go.
He was not quite himself, but feeling much better.
We were so glad he didn't have to miss out!
We made a stop the next morning at the OKC National Memorial and Museum.
They all really enjoyed the museum and were really interested in learning about the bombing.
In front of The Survivor's Tree-
...and the Field of Empty Chairs-
We discussed how it was kind of awkward to be smiling for the pictures in such a sad, somber place. They tried not smiling, but that didn't seem quite right either.
It is such a horrible, heartbreaking thing, but important for them to learn about.
Later that day we went to a race course-
Our little adrenaline junkies!...
We had some yummy meals, like this pizza place in Bricktown, The Wedge, where the kids got to play with pizza dough while we waited for our food.
The next day we drove all the way to Norman to play Laser Tag. The kids LOVE to play laser tag and this was the only place we could find that was open since OK wasn't on Spring Break that week.
We did lots of fun things, but I think if I took a poll of everyone's favorite thing (and also the thing they are STILL talking about), it would be our stop at Nic's for lunch on the last day. If you haven't been to Nic's for a good ole' fashioned, greasy hamburger and fries- you are missing out!
