Am I the only one who feels like I spend a significant portion of my life in the car? I can't imagine how it will be when my kids are all playing sports or doing different activities, needing to be here or there all the time. Where we live there just isn't much "around the corner". It is a bit of a drive to get to church, the grocery store, etc.
Hollace's school is actually pretty close, but I spend a lot of time in the drop-off/pick-up line.
The kids are usually pretty good in the car.
Hollace, though, feels the need to bring an arm full of things with her every time we get in the car. She'll bring a teddy bear, two scarves, a notebook, and a bag full of who knows what, just to drive to the store. I don't often get to the back of the van, where she sits, but when I do I'm always amazed at the junk she has stashed back there. She is such a pack rat. That is another story for another day, but I 'll just say that the other day she was hiding/trying to save a
Lunchables box "to make a purse out of it". Also I have found a stash of dryer sheets she was saving, because "they smell so good" and they make good blankets for her Barbies.
Rhett, the Cars man, is usually rather bored by my driving skills. He often randomly says "this is
SOOO boring", while were driving along. Since we got the
Wi and his Cars Race-O-Rama game he often asks me to "crash into those cones", or "run into that car", or "drive into that ditch". The other day in the van he asked me to "make some donuts". I finally figured out he didn't want breakfast.
Thankfully, this is the only driving he will be doing for 12+ years.
Thad does pretty well once I get him INTO the car. Do any of your children do the arching/stiffening maneuver? You know, the one where you have to use significant physical force to "bend" their body enough to get them buckled in their seat. I'm usually worn out by the time I get them all out of the house and into the car to go somewhere. Sometimes after I'm
finally set to leave, I'm really not sure where we're going is worth it.
This is exactly how I feel sometimes
