Ball Career Debut

If you saw yesterday's post you know Hollace is playing t-ball this summer (for the first time). It is a pretty short league. They just practiced for a month, then have games for a month. I'm not sure if Hollace is going to be a huge softball star. She acts like she has fun, but after the first few practices I asked her what her favorite part was and she said "the part where we go home"!, but she also likes "the part where we hit the ball off that stick".

She has had 4 games now, and it is really fun to watch. They are so cute. It is co-ed 4 and 5 year olds. Since Hollace is close to 6 and very tall, she is the tallest on her team. Grammy Terri was asking me how many are on the team and if they had ever been short (not enough players) and Hollace said "Yes, they're all short, except me. I'm the tall one." Ha!

Her coach handed out shirt and Hollace happened to get #21, her Daddy's baseball # in college.

Getting a little coaching from Dad

With two of her biggest fans
*For those of you wondering about yesterday's pic, I'm pretty sure it wasn't a diving catch. She was warming up before a game and apparently decided she needed a pre-game "rest".

Grammy and Papa and the Zoo

Grammy and Papa just left yesterday after a little visit. We all had a good time and are so glad they go to come. Here are a few pictures from the Nashville zoo we visited while they were here.

Lookng out the observation window at the meerkat

Notice the "monkey" in this picture??

Papa and Thad

Grammy and Thad. They hadn't seen him since he was about 7 weeks old!

We also went swimming, shopping, and to two of Hollace's t-ball games during Grammy and Papa's visit. They were so glad they got to see her play. Stay tuned for t-ball pics.

A Not Very "Fourthy" Fourth

I sort of failed to post about the 4th of July. I didn't really forget, I just didn't have much to share. It didn't seem very "Fourthy" around here. We headed south of Nashville to a guy who works with Brent and his families home. The kids swam in their pool and we cooked out, but we were run inside when it started raining. We had a good time and headed home after dinner. We were driving through the middle of Nashville during the downtown firework show. It is suppose to be one of the top 4 shows in the country. It was quite impressive from what we could tell, watching while driving down the interstate in the rain. It was actually a rather good view from there and there were cars lined up bumper to bumper on the shoulder of the interstate. We had fireworks of our own to do (we don't live in city limits), but it was still pouring when we got home, so we basically went to bed. So not much of a festive day, with all the rain. Nearly every night for the next week there was a informal neighborhood show as everyone was doing their fireworks they couldn't do on the 4th.

Here is the only picture I have of the weekend, the kids in their festive colors.

Did she really just ask me that?

Yesterday I was sitting on the porch, reading, and watching Hollace, Rhett and some neighbor kids play. They ended up going around to the backyard to play, and I stayed on the porch. A little while later, Hollace ran back around to the porch and asked.......

"Mom, can I have a match, 'cause we're trying to start a FIRE?"

UMMMMM......................NOOOOO!

At least she asked, right??

No I did NOT run in and fetch her a match and yes, we had a little impromptu lesson on fire safety!

My Water Bugs

Our neighborhood has a community pool, and it is SO great! It is so much easier than packing up and driving to a public pool and fighting the crowds, etc. Also it is so nice to not have to take care of it ourselves! It really is a nice pool too. It has a great kiddie area, with a slide, mushroom thing, and waterfall. The kids love it!
Hollace's swimming has improved SO much over the past few weeks.

and Rhett just swims all over the place (in his floaties of course). He isn't afraid of anything.

Thad usually does pretty well. If it's not too hot, I just find a shady spot and he'll be pretty happy for awhile or take a nap. Occasionally, when Brent can go with us, Thad gets to swim too. It is a little much for me to be in the pool with Thad and try to supervise the other two too.

Friday we went about 6pm and it was SO nice. Not too hot and hardly anyone there.

I just LOVE this last picture!

5 for 5

Thad turned 5 months old on this past Sunday. Even though I just posted his 4 month post (with 3 month pictures) I wanted to do something. So here are 5 things that are different about Thad from the last post.

1. He is a little rolly-polly! He has been turning over for quite a while (tummy to back for about 2+ months), but just the last couple of weeks, he has started rolling all over the place. He can really get around, just by rolling!

2. He has a tooth! Can't believe I didn't post that. It started peeking through about 2 weeks ago. It is still just barely there. He is also really enjoying his food more. He gets excited when the bib goes on!

3. If you haven't noticed, the boy has had some major hair loss since birth. It was pretty significant by 3 months. It was pretty patchy for a while and is just now starting to even out and fill in a little. Still MUCH less hair than when he was born. Hollace and Rhett never lost their hair- Oh wait, they didn't have any!

4. He is grabbing at things and holding his toys so much better. It is SO sweet to watch him play with things and he really looks at and examines his toys, binky, etc.

5. He is sleeping much better. He sleep from about 8-9 until about 5 or 6 most nights. Then he eats and usually goes back to sleep for a couple of hours.

**Thanks to Aunt Sydnie for his cute onesie! She made it and is thinking about making some to sell.
